Seems it does need a huge amount of organising with the old mChat, members do struggle to get any chats sorted themselves which is a shame

Not even half way with 15 years yet. Coming up to 12 years this year. Will retire at 55 when my military pension starts paying out in full.

this is National Traffic commentary
Site Logo Highways Agency Traffic Officers started patrolling motorways in the South East in Surrey in August 2005. The service was further extended to include Kent in January 2006 and then started patrols in Hampshire in June 2006. The service aims have always included making journeys safer, keeping traffic moving and ensuring motorists are kept informed of traffic conditions. HATOs have taken over many of the roles traditionally carried out by the police and in so doing, have left us with fewer police cars on motorways.

Nevertheless HATOs have shown considerable courage, removing debris, vehicles and animals from their highways on a regular basis. Rolling roadblocks came in soon after the HATOs began work, providing even more challenging work as serious incidents continue to occur. Several HATOs have even met their deaths in the line of duty, due to the extremely dangerous traffic conditions possible while working a live motorway.

Salaries for HATOs have always been notoriously poor and when taken with the fact that HATOs dont get paid double time on Bank holidays or while doing Night Duty, it is a sobering thought "who would want to do this job?" Poor pay, poor terms, dangerous working life, but essential to the safety of any motorway. It continues to be a comforting thought for motorists in England that a HATO is probably not far away, should they break down or even worse be involved in a Road Traffic Collision. It is accepted by the public after all these years, that HATOs are honest, respectable and professional and fill the previous role worked (at far less cost) by the Police.
