Re: Pay Rise...

Use your power of strike - you have one, so why not?!? Having said that - not everyone wants to strike because they have a family to feed and so prospect (or who ever the union is) will ballot, the vote will be NO and then the payrise will get given to you with a mental note for next year to give a ...

Get a tow bar fitted, doesn't half make a mess of the front of their car  Great idea!! I often considering passing on my phone number to them so that they can give me a call and then I can give them a lift rather than them trying to fit in my boot. My OH though always reminds me that they can'...

The course was residential back in 2005 and lasted for 6 weeks (think it's a bit shorter now). Mostly class room based but roughly 1 week spent out and about on the road and on the runway!

Good luck!

Never needed my super at the scene. I found that when they were there things did not run as smoothly - felt I was being checked up on and if I put a cone 2 inches out of place I would be on review!!!

That said - always felt good to have them on the end of the phone when needed!!

Surely the TOs are still allowed to run red X's? This was common practice to ask the RCC for permission, which was then granted.

Didn't try it myself but knew a few TOs who did. Only real problem appeared to be waiting for a space at the outstation. Some were waiting 12 months plus.

Yep - advise RCC you are going to back up and then wait at the nearest junction - so you are not on scene and possibly getting in the way of the first crew. If you haven't been asked to attend the scene after a short while then a simple check with the RCC/Crew will confirm whether you are needed. If...

What we lose out in pay and enforcement powers, I think is partially made up by the fact that as soon as we've chucked our car keys and radio in the general direction of a Supervisor at the end of a shift, we're out the door with nothing weighing on our minds. Quite agree - one of the great parts o...

One of the reasons I left was the fact was we were being expected to train new Traffic Officers on the same salary as us and we had over 2 years worth of on the road knowledge. Nothing against having to train the new guys - I enjoyed it - but a kick in the teeth to all those senior TOs!! The pay rou...

King-spring - deffo keep on to HR and don't let a month pass without calling them. Even back in 2005 you had to keep calling them and on one phone call was told that I wouldn't get a job offer for a couple of months and later that day got a call from HR offering me a job

Good luck!!

Is this a recent thing? I know I'm not working for the HA anymore but only left at the end of last month and we were not classed as key workers then.

They don't go out to cars in RTC's either.. Depends which way the wind is blowing. Had many RTCs when they have, and many when they have declared that they do not and have never come out to cars involved in an RTC. Tried to explain to person on the other end of the phone that the AA do come out to ...

Two people in mini stopped on M23 towards Brighton.
We pull up and they are engrossed in a long kiss.
My oppo walks up to the car and they stop and they announce that they had stopped because the driver's suspender belt had snapped.
Her female friend just smiles sweetly!!!
