Re: Scene Screens

This is the reason the younger T/O's are doing a towing course. Lets just hope the course is offered to the older T/O's who do not have any towing experience. I am led to believe that, the fact that just because someone has a particular licence category does not mean they are competent, has been po...

Re: High mileage

Thats not what some of the lower mileage contracts stated, anyway that's a good thing :slgo:

Some 4x4s are on different contracts which refer to them as `TM ` vehicles.....although the length of time vehicles are staying on the fleet now makes it all abit academic

Re: Discovery or land Cruiser

There are 1 or 2 57 reg vehicles still in the regions...I guess these were on the longer contracts even so they must be coming to the end. I understand the Southern region have a 59 reg disco around the 226,000 mark.....

Re: Vehicle Contracts

I have been in the job for over 6 years and understood the contracts were 150,000/2 years from day one.....having said that we currently have vehicles over 225,000 with no replacement in sight. I also understood the mileage quota was for patroling..once deployed by the RCC the figure was going to go...

Re: Would more PNC access help?

From my days as a `advanced PNC enquirer` with the police I think there are over 50 markers for a vehicle PNC check. Approx half of which would be `of interest to the police`. If the system is running it is a very quick process......VRN A123ABC - count to 3 - you have the answer. Not sure how many R...

Re: Speed limits to be raised to 80

This is only going to affect those currently restricted to 70mph. Those that run at 80kph and 102kph (LGV and PSV) will stay the same as they run to EU restrictions

Re: the axe man commeth

Traffic officers have the powers to move any LGV/PCV driver on if they are taking their rest break on the hard shoulder. All of these `professional` drivers know the law, if they are coming up to the maximum time driving they should stop at the next safest place, the hard shoulder is not the next sa...

Re: Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medals

I am embarrassed by some of the comments from my work colleagues contained in their emails. It appears they have not grasped the concept of who we are and what we do. All of this sent to all on multi address emails. Quite bizarre..
