Re: Strategic roads review published today

We are not being sold at all. The report advises we are ( HA ) to remain 100% as a government owned company, and we as traffic officers would still retain the powers that we have. The TMD could in fact replace the ISU's with traffic officers. Barrier repairs and general road maintainance would still...

Re: Strategic roads review published today

GD and SSW did tell us that the package and recommendations would have to be taken as they are. i.e the Sec of state would not be able to take bits out, so, I think this will be accepted by her and it will become policy. The timescales to implement this is very short, within a year so we should all ...

Re: Strategic roads review published today

'Tis the part about traffic officers being employed by " the contractors " that tickles me.

And yes it is a shame, but, life goes on.

Re: the axe man commeth

Bob and Slabber. I would / will take redundancy if offered to allow breathing space for someone else. I don't do this job for "pin money", I do it because I like the people I work with, not for. I will refrain from posting further, that's not me taking the hump, but it obvious that the truth offends...

Re: the axe man commeth

In one shape of form the Police have been around for over 180 years. We have been around for about 7. I’m a HATO, but spent nearly 30 years in the Police. I could nearly always find a prosecution at an RTA as it was in the day. Intelligence on people involved in the vehicles, ANPR in my latter years...

Re: the axe man commeth

I think your spot on Bob P with the dates. I'm lucky enough that it won't worry me, but I really feel for others that will put them into hardship. I will take voluntary redundancy this time. The job role will never change, nor will the management I fear. If the government got the job role correct in...

Re: the axe man commeth

Never typed that much in a long time ! Just watched parliamentary tv of the transport select commitee. It was done in June this year. Makes some interesting viewing, GD and SSW were asked some challenging questions about the TOS. SSW claims the TOS have made an 11% improvement on journey times becau...

Re: the axe man commeth

It looks as if Mr Cook is going to strike again. I was reading on the " rumour wall " on the portal about some questions that were asked to him. " I've heard that TOS funding is going to be cut in 2014 and redundancy is on the cards ".....his reply :- " This was discussed in September last year in t...

Re: "THE" BTP thread

As you all stated, its just a shame that a request for something under the FOI has prompted the head sheds to let us know. To be honest I have never felt any kind of trust in this place. I have been doing this same sort of job for over 30 years FFS. I have never known so called management like it, i...

Re: "THE" BTP thread

I'm advised that the meeting with the HA only took place just over three weeks ago and the drive comes from the Chief at BTP. As the e-mail states, what BTP have come to the table was not a lot really....just a tester to see the reaction. It would save county forces millions if it was allowed to go ...

Re: single crewing

Can I cast your minds back to the massive event trying to get scrolling arrows on the VMS in our cars, that took ages and lots of trials on runways, only to be told by the Dft that we can have them. Dumb data terminals that went on trial for our vehicles, that died a death. We will require something...
