If i needed to deal with someone for a motoring offence, i would not stop them on the hard shoulder. Which is what RPU officers are taught. There's plenty of slip roads and service areas which are safe. Hence the FOLLOW ME sign's we have.

BR, I'm with you - get them off the network/ to a place of safety asap. Job done :) You can usually tell, within seconds of going code 6, if some one is straight up - if the hairs on the back of your neck start standing, get out of the way!! Reverse back and observe, call for BiB to deal. Most BiB ...

By doing a rolling road block is going to make it ten times more safer than not doing one. First off, your right a wall of traffic, are they liekly to crash straight into them? i think not. Even if they do, surely its better to have the wall of traffic travelling at 30 mph rather than 70 mph for bot...

So if a ped refueses to give you their details, which they are more than entitled to do, they can't get in your car? Id rather get them to a place of safety. I see what your saying about transporting peds, id understand if you guys actually worked off the motorway and in the towns. But if they're on...

if to's are called to a perosn on the motorway, they should be deployed. As for asking them for id and their details. Why? I don't check everyone, even if they are committing offences as such. If you can get their details, run them through. 9 times out of 10 you get a feel if they are worth checking...

intersting post. I see no reason for sending the police only. TO's can be deployed in the first instance. If they require police, then they can attend.
