Re: Patrol Routes..........set in stone?

Wandering off-route can also lead to job-duplication as two crews may call in the same incident. Stick to the patrol route, but respond anywhere if dispatched as you might be the closet or fastest responding unit. Massively exceeding KPIs by doing this will offset the ones we just can't get to in ti...

Re: Be Positive - Airwave

At the end of the day, if the HA put their hand in their pockets, drive-offs, BDV's, and other trivial could be sent via data link so that the airwaves can be kept for essential. Surely, and I'm sure there is someone on here who knows a lot more than me about them, are the radios we have not capabl...

Re: TRA, is it worth it?

Well now this does seem to have descended into a bit of a TM/TRA bash methinks :slch: Remember not all TMs are bad (TRAs as well), which I would hope you remember Jezza :slwi: I agree with your points re favourites, not dealing with the important issues etc. :slr: This is wrong I accept :slgo: But ...

...however I would completely agree that excessive management focus on ties where they let other dodgy practice go unchallenged is just pants.

Still, bless them, they're only managing what they can see and understand... ;)

Re: TRA, is it worth it?

You could also add that we also aren't allowed to decide if we want to take our ties off... Now that's not so silly. It's a uniform. Wear the blouse or wear a tie - them's your choices. Anything else is "non-uniformal" and just looks scruffy. This aint school - it's not "cool" t...

Re: TRA, is it worth it?

Bit difficult when us lowly TO's aren't given access to the vehicle keys or radio room... Which is just silly. You've got the legal power to close the motorway causing £millions of congestion damage to the economy and are trusted to drive a £30k vehicle on your own, but you're not allowed in the ke...

Re: TRA, is it worth it?

Good point, why do *some* outstations have a TRA putting a crew on duty when there's another TM sat in the office that could stop what they're doing for ten minutes to book a crew on duty. So long as there is some supervision available by airwave/phone if an incident kicks off then why do we need a...

Re: Be Positive - Airwave

You'd think there would be some training... ...never mind that, you'd think there'd be some policy, procedures and guidance on the use of Airwave! Pretty difficult to create some training without any of that existing first... Now, to be fair, I have seen some stuff written down about how they'd lik...

Re: Government cutbacks. Cull TMs, OMs and ROMs

Bin all the "made up jobs", the extra OMs and TMs that are lounging in the back office doing "projects" or spending all their time in meetings elsewhere in the country. Every region has at least two or three. Operational Support Teams? Training Coordinators? Strategic OMs? Resour...

Re: Five dead in 'wrong way' M1 crash

driving along the motorway in the wrong direction It probably happens more often than most would think. I once stopped someone driving the wrong way down the h/s - they were indicating to go around our incident which was blocking their way on the h/s (I was on foot talking to the BDV driver) and we...
