I notice in the new procedures it does mention tagging along behind blue lights.

Thats OK until you meet a BiB who doesn't like it. Where will the HA stand then.

We have a good relationship with most officers in our area. This seems to have got better as they realise what we can do to help them, and have gained a degree of confidence in leaving certain jobs to us. There are still one or two who are not so warm, but hey, we have people like that in our outsta...

Congratulation Charl[/color] :cl:

Great to see something positive.

Truckers in general do seem to be a little more favourable these days.
Lets hope it continues to go that way.

Well done Dave. Once you get through Health and Safety it great fun. Problem with H&S was staying awake on our course. It is not in the HA's interest to have people fail the course and if anyone needs extra coaching that will be accomodated but that would be very rare. Its a great job, working with ...

I wonder if this is in preparation for extending the service onto APTR or just because there was no procedure already covered.

NYM, you really are a bundle of fun. We have accepted your right to opt out of belonging to a union, yet you seem to want to rubbish those of us who choose tp spend out £1.77 a week for union membership. You even admit you will gladly take any benefits which the union negotaites. The union reps have...

I've been around longer than most and worked in a lot of different types of business. I've never worked anywhere that did'nt have its share of miserable moaning malcontents. It's human nature. They do undermine morale but you have to rise above them, they are in the minority ( at least they are at o...

hi, Northern lad, you can try to explain as long as your bottom points downwards, We are not commie militants, all we ask is a fair chance of a fair pay rise,ie equal to or above the rate. Lets just sit back and let them do all of us instead. Then the likes of nvr etc can spend the next 25 years on...

Don't understand why you equate the union to complaining colleagues NYM. The union isn't about missing kit or jackets not being waterproof. Its about trying to get terms and conditions for its members which are fair and eqitable. If managers can be awarded 11%+ pay rises, why are TO's having 3.3% fo...

There were plans to upgrade the Dishforth to Barton section of the A but they seem to have got lost in the mists of time.

I know the Newcasle/ Metro Centre area and that is one very busy section of road.

Hats off to TO's who look after that area. :)

We operate several 2 lane sections.
The new speed limits on (light) vans will have them jamming lane 2 whilst LGV's jam lane 1.

Net result is all traffic will be governed by the lowest common denominator and everyone will be stuck at 60mph.

More frustration all round :x

Re: union

Hi chaps/ettes. I save spent some time looking at this thread and would like to add this to the pot. what if I were to say that this proposed action went much deeper than just this years pay packet. We, as traffic officers are the new boys and girls in the playground and as such we will get pushed ...

I have never been on strike in my life, but I will vote for industrial action this time.

The salary package was misrepresented, senior management are treating TO's with complete contempt and other issues are being ignored.

I feel the need to let them know how strong my feelings are.
