Many of the pedestrians found on the network have no idea that it is an offence. An offence against common sense you may think, but in my younger days there was a sign at motorway access points saying no pedestrians, horses, cycles, mopeds, etc, etc. These all seem to have disappeared and unless you...

I was talking to a recovery operator yesterday who would love to see the lighting issue sorted out.

As he said, even the trolley collectors at Tesco have amber lights on their pusher :!: :!: :!:

Not a problem for me. The only time I have heard objections from RCC is when the vehicle is the subject of a criminal investigation. We have always been told that the division is , criminal = Police responsibility. Most TO's I know will always try to help out if the police request this type of assis...

I think H/S running should be called in. If only to cover your own back from that which runs downhill... I DO however have an issue with SOME TO's asking RCC's permission to do the most trivial of things on scene! Get a backbone, make a decision and stand by it, after all it is the Traffic Officer ...

What's your problem with just calling in that you're having to run H/S from MPxx/y due to traffic build up?? Well I don't think any at my outstaion call in H/S running. I'm talking about general patrolling, not going to an incident. We were told there's no point sitting in traffic for two reasons: ...

You cannot do a proper job and be out in 10 minutes. Code 2 time depends on supervisor having runners and riders ready, briefings and how good a check you do. On the basis that my safety could depend on my vehicle and equipment, I do a proper powder check. Maybe they should allow the off going shift...

Do you mean hailing channel on Airwave or Hail line as in HA Information Line?

We can't use the airwave channel unless instructed to do so, normally to liaise with officers about a particular incident.

I don't think they want anyone cutting out the RCC (where all transmissions are recorded).

Interesting that one or two operators have gone from the RCC when, unfortunately for them, everyone can listen to their difficulties in reaching acceptable standards. :( I don't know of any TO who has been ' released ' for the same reason. Obviously our shortcomings are not on full view of all of ou...

It is worth keeping in touch with the recruitment agency.
Give them a ring now and again and ask for an update.

It won't do any harm to show that you are keen and still interested. with these long delays, many people find alternative employment or simply lose interest.

Best of luck

Yep, paid in the first pay day after your first anniversary date.

Letter came through internal mail to say that probation completed successfully and £500 would be paid.

Agree with Flash whole heartedly. NYM , I have no doubt there are people who behave as you say, and maybe they joined the TO service for the wrong reasons or are bringing their past with them. That doesn't make all of us who try to do the best job we can, even if that means pushing the rules a littl...
