Re: Coat Washing

Had to add to my last post, Another classic example of how good our management is at de-motivating the workforce. The new year just begins, we sit back and reflect on the old year, how many of us said " chin up, a new year just starting, I'm sure it cant be as bad as the last. We never know, we migh...

Re: Coat Washing

So, they're not taking Bristol on again. And we're back to washing at home (for which we were under threat of disciplinary) Wonder how much that cost the tax payer????? :strokeschin: So what happens now, we wash the garment at home and it all goes wrong. Does this mean we still face the threat of d...

Re: Would more PNC access help?

As I understand the main reason for HATO's doing a PNC check is to enquire if there is any police intrest. We are not privy to what the police intrest might be, an enquirey is then made to see if the local police want to attend. The other reason for PNC access is to enable us to put on a found repor...

Re: Would more PNC access help?

Unfortunately the need to cut costs is out weighing the Health & Safety aspect of our job. We must remember that ACPO are dead against single crewing, their guidlines maintain that all motorway police officers are doubled crewed. But how often do we see a single crewed police car on the network? Mus...

Re: Would more PNC access help?

What worries me is single crewing, at the moment there are two of us, which I'm sure would make most who want to spoil for a fight think twice. But when we are out there on our own, who knows what could happen. I'm sure the HA must have put some thought into this, buy to date we are still not being ...

Re: Would more PNC access help?

One of the long standing problems us HATO's suffer. The police have the means to gain some info on who they are dealing with by doing a PNC check. The recovery operators are aware of who they are dealing with, because of the membership of the muppet who has run out of fuel. But us T/O's just turn up...

Re: Would more PNC access help?

If we have greater use of PNC, and we find offences out there, what are we going to do? We dont have the powers to deal with offences! Do we sit and wait for the local BIB to turn up? In all honesty I think the Police have enough on their plate doing their own work, without the TOS providing more fo...

Re: Mandate to strike????

We must not loose sight of the fact that civil servants on the whole receive crap wages. Having said that the pension for civil servants was half decent. Now what Mr Clegg wants is a civil service that receives crap wages and a crap pension. I havent got a problem with a crap pension as long as I ge...

Re: Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medals

Have to admit perhaps a bit more recognition in the pay packet would be a lot more beneficial, but with the current climate I don't think that is likely to happen in the near future.
Therefore the cheap option would be the offer of the medal. :slw:

Re: Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medals

Having read all the posts, and not taking any sides, I have to say it would be a very cheap option to offer some recognition for the work we do :sltm:

Re: terrifying rush-hour ambush on jail van

I'm surprised with the current cut backs, the two prisoners were not given the bus fare and asked to make their own way to court. :slbi: Nah, that's just for the illegal immigrants... In my part of the world the Illegal Immigrants aren't even given the buss fare, just a sketch map, and left for us ...
