Hello, just thought i'd introduce myself. I am Shelly and i'm 27 from the North West.
I am going to apply for Traffic Officer next time they recruit in the North West. Currently work in a secondary school and would love a total change of career and always fancied a driving job.
Would you all recommend the job? Any tips for applying would be great

Shelly
Job is great but the politics, career advancement priorities of some and the unbelievable amount if time it takes to get a sensible change (stupid changes happen overnight) is annoying to say the least.
But then after 4 years I'm still hear so it can't be all bad

Life, don't talk to me about life.

Hi Shelly,
If you haven't already done it, go to the highways agency website and follow the links to Traffic officer recruitment. You will find a useful link where you subscribe to e-mail alerts when they are recruiting in your area. It is a lot easier than checking the site every week!
My other piece of advice is to look through the old posts on here, a lot of people (including me!) have already asked and got answers to loads of recruitment questions and excellent help from the regular NT members at each stage of the selection process.
I looked everywhere on the internet when i was interested in joining the T.O service and i promise you wont find anything half as good as this site and the people on it
good luck and be patient, it can be a long process.

Three mentions and we're still on the first page of the thread! Should I feel honoured?
Welcome to the site Shelly, just make sure you ignore Pongolad if he's been offering to measure you for your new hi-vis gear
