Not all good news - Thats 2000 more likely to be claiming unemployment benefit. I'm pretty sure turning up at the Jobcentre stating that you left your last job because it was made illegal would pretty much qualify you for jobseekers allowance straight away.

Clampers banned from private land

...................will be introduced in the Government's Freedom Bill in November and could be in place by early next year.

Still a short period to earn an extra wedge p/t then :slsa: :slsa:

I just feel sorry for legitimate businesses who provide parking places for their customers only to have them taken up all day by twunts who won't use the local council pay and display car park :slsa:

I wonder if this means that those of us that have been caught in the past have any means of redress. :slyr:

Don't walk behind me I may not lead,
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

Did you see watchdog the other night? Their article on clampers, with their 'sting' operation? Good stuff - they clamped a clamper! :n34:

One thing that annoys me about that show though, is the lack of actual advice post story. They didn't once mention the impending change in law, or more importantly, what one should do when confronted with a wanker, I mean, clamper

Not at all good news. We live in a Private Road which is just off the High Street. Not only do we have to fight to get INTO or OUT of the drive sometimes as people just stop there to go to the cashpoint or worse still to collect their takeaway or have a meal even, we have people just driving up and parking in the road. NOT that we ever employed clampers but what other course of action can we take to deter these lazy tw@ts that just wont pay 50p for the car park just down the road?? Barriers or the like are a non starter due to 95% of the street being elderly and wouldnt be able to manage.

The trouble began when all Clampers had to do was pay £270 to get a SIA licence and then away they went. YES there were cowboys operating [as there is in a lot of industrys] but it should have been regulated properly. Making it illegal altogether was a big cop-out.

Here's a novel idea for the councils make the car parking free & stop screwing motorists over :)

I also live in a private road.

It is a short way from the hospital, and all the roads around us have parking restrictions.

Two years ago the residents association asked the trustees to do something about parking. The solution was parking permits and clamping. It worked.

Now I will be going back to wondering if there will be a space for me when I get home....
