New summer shirts

Post: # 21820Post Popeye

Anyone had them yet?

I think someone is taking the proverbial. Got in this morning and on top of all the lockers is a pack of new shirts or to be more precise a pack of new blouses.
Not only do we have to work with a white shirt and a very gay tie in probably one of the dirtiest enviroments but now if you want to go tie-less you have to wear a pristine white blouse.
No offence to all the female T.O.'s out there but however much I hate wearing a tie I will NEVER wear a blouse.
All that talk of sensible dark polo shirts was c**p.

Rant over----------------------------------For now!!!!!!!!!

If you get a chance can you post a pic of one of the offending items? I heard that we was due to get some, but not yet seen them. Personally, I don't see the need for them. Fine in an office environment, but not in our role. Someone, somewhere has got a little confused and lost in his or her own dimention. When they were told that we were all Civil Servants, it kind of places thoughts in ones mind of a nice shiny desk, in a nice air conditioned office, picking up phones, and signing bits of paper.. The reality is.. We work in all kinds of c**p, getting under cars, scraping up dead animals, getting p****d soaking wet through etc.... So they give us stuff that makes us look like BA cabin crew!

Nuff said matey... The world's gone mad!

I strongly believe that the people at the top, within the HA,do not understand what we do and the uniform issue is one of the main reasons.Totally unworkable uniform.Doing rearward relief for a few hours with loads of hgv's, in sun then rain, left my shirt so filthy that i just threw it out.Now we have sensible trousers, give us a sensible top, without a tie,and keep a smart uniform for events, court and classroom training etc.

HFC has got that one sewn up months ago.

Can the summer blouse be that bad, are the buttons on the wrong side or does it have that open neck thing going on? Just do not wear it, like the tie, if you do not want to. Honestly nothing bad happens if you dont wear your tie.

I am shocked at the new "shirts".
I can't believe the anyone would insult us by issuing such rubbish.
As far as i'm concerned mine are going straight into the bin. They are a joke.

I wonder if the person who dreams up our uniform actually knows what we do ? They have had all this time to come up with something pratical and smart and they come up with that !!!!!

Haven't seen or tried them yet, but maybe a concerted and continuous email campaign to the person who makes the decisions on some of the kit we are expected to wear might be in order?

Got a buzz today that all those that aren't going to be worn are to be parcelled up and sent back.

Best save the box they came in then!

I wonder if I know which one?

I suppose the new light weight rainproof has been trialed by a secretary.

Well, I'll see what lands on my locker, but if they're as stated then they can have them back!
What is wrong with a black or navy blue polo shirt? They don't even have to have them made specially. I could be wrong in this, and if I am I appologise now. But they have this fixation that the uniform MUST be made specially and NOT purchased off the peg.. Why??????
My last job required a uniform, no problems with supply, and it fit.. The shirts are mass produced, and long enough for those of us that are a little rotund, the jackets were Gortex, and sized according to your height, width, and chest size.. The over trousers were Gortex so you don't have to sweat your nuts off. The tie wasn't so wide that I a harsh wind you didn't run the risk of taking off..

Again, nuff said!

If they are as bad as everyone says, mine might get sent back after... After each and every one of them has been worn on a nice hot summers day doing lots of active traffic management

You would have to wear your fleece done up all the way for added effect and to keep the blouse hidden from view unless of course you are that way inclined.
No offence meant to the non hetrosexuals amongst us!
