New Epaulettes

Post by Guest » Thu Apr 05, 2007 6:51 pm

Did anyone know the OM's and NOM's were getting new epaulettes?

Saw them for the first time today. As we know supers, OMs and the NOM all have red epauletes. So at the scene of a major incident you cant tell whose who and what rank.

Superviosrs havent changed
OM's still have red epaulettes but with 1 white stripe
NOM's also still have red epaulettes but with 2 white stripes.

What do you think, Good idea? or pointless?

It is in theory a good idea. But in practise a waste of time, I have never seen a NOM/OM at any incident. God forbid they come to me at an incident and tell me what needs doing. Going to alot of meetings and penning e-mails about when you can take off your tie does not make an incident commander.
Am glad they stay in their offices, anything that encourages them to mess about on the roads needs to be discourged with extreme prejudice.

hmm the money could be spent on lots more and better things really!!

Staff, equipment, pay etc etc which will benefit us all. :D

Are the NOM ones going to be any use? Im sure there are some NOMs out there who dont even wear their uniform very much.

This is so when you are at meetings, you can work out who is who.

No wait - thought that was what the numbers were for:

X 00 1 = NOM
X 00 2-9 = OM
X 0 10-99 = Sep
X 100 + = Officer

More chance to waste public money - what next bath stars and crowns. Now I know where our overtime and training day budget went.
Why not spend on items that will enhance our service to the public - guess there will be a poster campaign in all stations to let us know of this change, more waste !!

If it was up to me I'd change the supers to blue epaullettes with some stripes or something, just so they wouldn't have to wear the red bus driver ones..

How about crossed cones for OM's and crossed cones with amber light, flashing for Nom :?:  Least that way we could recognise them IF they turned up at an incident :?

Maybe if they spent the money on kitting out their PRIVATE CARS with Battenburg, hands free comms and light bar they could run the H/S to incidents :?:  Silly me, they can do that WITHOUT any of the above

I think its a good idea for OM's and NOM's to have bars.

That way at an incident, BiB, Ambo, Fire etc. will know to go ask someonelse

back to the drinks already!

Must admit the 'red ones' do stand out a bit, but thats what they are for i suppose! Trouble is you cant tell a TRA sup from an operator!
