OK it looks like I am going to enjoy this job, not long now!!!! just the medical and crb check to get through, don't know if I am allowed to mention the o/s I've been offered a position at so will not post it just in case, shame really as I would like to hear from anyone else thats up for the training as same time as myself.

Thanks everyone for comments, a quick question if you can help me please.

I have been told that I will be on 24/7 shift, can someone tell me what hours these are, how many days/nights (what shift) then how many days off - I'm a little confused.

Thanks in anticipation.

Dodgering the traffic.

There can only be one :sleye:

Perhaps out of fairness a rota should be drawn up for each o/s to experience the wonder that is slabber .....

It depends on what region you're in, but for an example our region runs the following shift pattern:
6 Earlies
3 Off
3 Lates
3 Nights
3 Off
3 Earlies
3 Lates
3 Off
3 Lates
3 Nights
3 Off................ and repeat.

Earlies = 06.00 - 14.26 (14.25 on weekends)
Lates = 14.00 - 22.26 (22.25 on weekends)
Nights = 22.00 - 06.26 (06.25 on weekends)

But you wont work a night shift until you're accredited, so until you're signed off you'll be working the double days rota, which again, down here is:
3 Earlies, 3 Lates, 3 Off................ and repeat.

Well medical passed O.K. and CRB check received with no problems, can some kind person out there tell me when I next hear anything from HA.
I know that my references were sent off three weeks ago, so is the next communication I receive a letter telling me where and when to report, I have signed the contract with a start date they sent me weeks ago but heard nothing since then!!!

What hours do you work during training ?

How many on training course at any one time?

Are you allowed home at weekends? (would I want to go?)

What's the food like? :sltm:

Happy & Waiting :slt:

P.S. What area/motorway/sections does Longbridge o/s cover?

Training is 5 weeks residential, first two weeks are at the ELC in Quinton staying at the Hilton Bromsgrove

You then move down to the Hilton Puckrup Hall for 4 days in the conference room and one day on the runway at Throckmorton.

The following two weeks are on the runway at Throckmorton and general driving, with the last day at the Land Rover experience.

Food's great beers expensive and you'll have a great time.

During foundation training with the ELC you'll do days Mon - Fri 09:00 - 16:30 officially.

Once your foundation is over you'll go to be mentored at your OS where you'll be on shift.

Good luck and enjoy it.

Google car park, and you'll see the longbridge patch :slpe: :slpe:

Surprised they don't have traffic wardens patrolling their patch :slpe: :slpe:

When you get to Puckrup Hall speak to the kind lady in the gym and get a membership card off her (wont cost you owt) you can then use this card at the bar and get 33% off all your drinks :slhd: they must have thought I was an alcoholic. The card can then be used at any other Hilton Hotel

I understand that Longbridge cover both the M40 between banbury and the M42 and also the M42 automatic traffic management, although there are the usual possibilities to be covering further afield on nights and during major incidents.

Am told that the ATM can be a pain and that the patch is pretty boring in general!

A bonus is that you won't work many nights (3 nights every 4/5 sets and you'll sometimes work a day shift (note day shift - NOT cover shift)
