As for overtime it's both we also get it for adverse weather ie high winds as we have a couple of high level bridges on my part
Thats the first ive heard of that one!!
How does that work?

Yes, we also get overtime shifts when adverse weather is forecast. We usually form an extra patrol and lurk about where we expect wagons to blow over - high ground in our case as opposed to bridges. Overtime available for snow on high ground as well - we have a lot of high ground on our patch and usually get a fair amount of snow + ice.

It seems that overtime is very geographically dependant and seems to stem from particular ROMs who are more flexible with their budget. Certainly in the midlands, overtime was almost non-existent 18 months ago except when retained on duty due to a major incident.

Under local government arrangements, I now get double time for working a bank holiday AND a day off in leiu. Always thought that the annual leave and the meal breaks were the two main scams that TO's were being ripped off with.
