So how do they work that into a 'police purpose'??? God help the driver if something goes wrong, here's your summons for dangerous driving and don't bother even thinking about claiming your exemptions cause legally you've got none???

They're under escort - like any driver can be (private coach drivers at matches/public order events, Nuclear Movements). I doubt they will be going fast as they drive these things

Those are amber lightbars, but with front flashing white lights.

They are needed as an essential support service to LFB as they don't carry the right kit to jack up a underground carriage, winch it, shift it, open it, cut it (quickly) like these guys can. They invested circ £6M following the July 7th incidents as their old fleet was vastly out of date (truck with boxes in the back) and their impact that day was highlighted in many reports (i.e. needed, justified, under-resourced, need more kit to help do the brilliant job they did)

Oh, and they respond with lights.

As I read it, the tube engineers will either get a blues and two's escort through London by BTP or will be driven to site by BTP officers in BTP vehicles? Atleast it'll give BTP something to do and will make it look like they actually do something during a shift!!! :sleye: :slgo:

Londons going to be full of blues and twos next summer. Countless "government" vehicles running about the place...

As well as every fruit loop, jehadistic or Irish nutter, wanting to make a name for themselves/die for the cause :slsix:

All the reasons I didn't volunteer my services or apply for tickets :sldoh: When the proverbial hits the fan I'll be a good 300 miles from it :slbe:

Yeah I understand they the engineer will be under escort but how can the officer justify a blue light response to a broken down train???

(that obviously changes if it's a crash or lives are at risk)

Millions of people not able to use the tube. Summer. High tempers. Language barriers. Public Order situation prevention?

Indeed. The place will be swarming with the military "heavies" though. :slgo: :slbl:

Ah, I see where you're coming from now! :slgo:

Earlier, I asked a mate who's "involved" in the Olympics. His understanding is that blue light runs will only happen where there's a threat to life etc and not for repairs etc.

My mate works on the ERU and reckons that they will be responding with blues and twos to any stoppage to service that requires their presence

I can just imagine the coroners face now as the fact that the officer was exceeding the speed limit going through red lights to make sure the 8:15 from kings cross left on time when they hit the pedestrian!!!

(totally playing devils advocat, but I know how stupid these things get and there will be no one hanging around to support the officer!!)

'Irish nutter'? TO31 must be tearing his hair out with the use of such alledged racism.

Not at all. :slyr:

Having been in Ireland during the troubles in the 80's and lost a number of friends in the war, I have no issue with the term "irish nutters". I'll say no more than that.
