Policewomen Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes were murdered in an act of "cold-blooded killing" after being lured into a trap, Greater Manchester Police said on Tuesday.

I am devastated by this horrific act, my sincerest condolences to all touched by these murders

How long are we going to keep letting people put their lives on the line?
I hate to have to say it, but had the police officers been armed would we be looking at the same tragic events.

My thoughts are with the families and friends.
Don't walk in front of me I may not follow,
Don't walk behind me I may not lead,
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

Very tragic event my thoughts are all those affected.

Could this have been prevented? was this the known address of the suspect who is believed to be linked with the killing of a father and son who was out on bail! If so should an armed response have been sent.
When people are released on bail following such a serious allege/offence should they be tagged/tracked so that there movements and whereabouts are known and restrictions placed upon them, in come the civil liberties brigade. Or for the most serious offences should suspects be held while investigations are completed.
People are like tea bags you have to put them in hot water to find out how strong they are.

I suggest both of you watch the press conference by the Chief Constable. Neither of these officers stood a chance it seems. Burglary call to a house not previously linked to anything, on arrival he came out shooting. Armed or not armed, i doubt they would have stood a chance with a grenade.

Then what is the answer?
What can anyone do to stop this type of tragic event happening again?

I am not sure you ever stop this sort of thing happening. Bobbies have unfortunately been murdered whilst carrying out their duty since they were established.

However, a return to proper sentences in the sort of prisons nobody in their right mind would want be in might help. Perhaps a return to capital punishment? Even without this life should mean life and a miserable one at that.

Yet what do we get, our lords and masters in Europe telling us we must pay compensation as we were to harsh with people!
Life, don't talk to me about life.

http://news.sky.com/story/1051165/dale- ... -to-guilty By Mike McCarthy, North of England Correspondent

The man accused of murdering two police officers in a gun and grenade attack has dramatically changed his plea to guilty.
After initially denying the killings, Dale Cregan unexpectedly admitted the offences after a break in his trial at Preston Crown Court.

The court heard last week how the 29-year-old ambushed PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes after making a 999 call to report a bogus burglary from a house in Hattersley, Greater Manchester, on September 18.

The jury was told that he opened fire on the policewomen as they approached the front door of the house and that as they lay on the floor, he threw a hand grenade at their bodies

I know its not a popular view but this is a clear example of how the death penalty is the best option for all. This guy will I am sure go on to kill again while in custody and I hope it is not a prison officer.

Indeed, although I don't hold much hope for the British "justice" system. :slsix: :sldoh:

He'll certainly get life but I suspect it'll be a minimum of 20-25 years.

As do we all.

At the end of the day i suppose even a whole life tarrif wont make up for the murder of Nicola and Fiona. barbaric and totally and utterly un justified and un explainable. thats the best we cna hope for though, and that he doesnt carry on that behaviour inside. constant 3 man unlock I hope.

The majority of Judges sitting on the Bench, unfortunately :slnak:
British 'Justice' is a parody of what it used to be, Europe calls the shots with it's unelected officials and Judges :slr:

My guess is he'll be out within 15 years with a big compo package :slsix:

Personally, I'd put him on death row but make him wait a few years in Isolation.....I'd happily become the next Albert Pierrepoint :slgo:
