Just received a lovely 'Happy Birthday eMail from the forum - the pity is that it's not my birthday - my birthdate is not even in my profile....? Does the forum software have a mind of it's own :slsa:

hmmmmmm :slhuh:

since upgrading to 3.0.6 I went to test various facilities on the site

one test was to find out if the site was still emailing members on their birthday "e.g. Happy Birthday Carbon!!"

I found out that since 3.0.6 this function failed

so

I decided to check the index.php

a major part of the code that had been there to send the email was now gone

I looked at the scheme and found that a few things had changed since 3.0.5

however I took a good guess and put back the code that would make it work

UNFORTUNATELY the site then sent emails to everybody wishing them happy birthday regardless of whether it was their birthday or not I think :? apologies!

Technical glitch perhaps. I'd be incline to agree with both of you (we are running a very new version aswell)

Thanks for the birthday wishes anyway Falk, it brightened up what was otherwise a very dull and uneventful evening (oh the joy's of early shifts!) :slhat:

:slhd: nice to see such jolly people THANKS!! :slt: ..... and apologies again to anybody who took the huff (and plenty did!!)

:slsix: on a serious note

if you DID NOT GET A BIRTHDAY EMAIL FROM ME

I seriously recommend that you have a little search for it

if you did not get it then maybe your email address as registered is an old one

does the email address you registered with still work? does it still receive email?

if not - it is not a clever thing to be "offline" to the site, if the day comes that you lose your password (it has happened to many people, plenty of whom thought it never would) then your account would DEPEND on having a registered email address that works
